Choosing the right aircraft
| Aircraft | Typical seats | Good for |
|---|---|---|
| Helicopter | 3–6 | Lodges, camps and sites without a runway; scenic flights |
| Turboprop (e.g. Caravan, King Air) | 7–12 | Safari airstrips, the coast, short regional hops |
| Light jet | 6–7 | Fast regional trips: Zanzibar, Kigali, Entebbe, Dar es Salaam |
| Midsize and heavy jets | 8–14 | Longer international flights, more cabin space and baggage |
| Regional airliner | 30–100 | Delegations, teams, events and large groups |
What affects the price
A charter is priced for the whole aircraft. The main costs are the flying hours, including empty legs when the aircraft has to position to collect you or return to base, airport and airstrip fees, and crew costs if the aircraft waits for a return flight. A one-way trip can cost almost as much as a return if the aircraft flies home empty, which is why we always ask about your return plans.
Safety and operators
We arrange charters with operators who hold the required air operator certificates for the flights they fly. Your quote names the operator and aircraft, and the operator's captain has the final say on weather and safety.
